Former Zuider-sea ports & Dutch Sailingships.

A number of years ago I started painting a series of watercolours depicting harbour-scenes of former Zuider-sea ports. The Zuider-sea was an inland sea, that has been dyked in and from which a lot of new land was claimed. (The world famous polders.)

What is left of the Zuider-sea, is presenty called the IJssel-lake. A number of its ports such as Enkhuizen, Lemmer and Hoorn have been painted sofar. Many more are intended to follow.

The Dutch sailingships I paint are usually the historic wooden fishing vessels (the botters) the iron freight-clippers and all types of inland sailingbarges and cutters.

This album shows you the ports as they look today and a number of traditional/historic salingships.
